In the framework of the Business Day event as part of the Sinergija 17 Conference, Telekom Srbija and the Serbian Chamber of Commerce have presented the results of cooperation in the digital transformation of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce as the necessary precondition for further digitalization of business operations in traditional industries in Serbia.

Telekom Srbija CEO Predrag Ćulibrk said that on a global plane telco industry had went through several waves of digital transformation and stressed and the life span of technologies and services had been reduced to just a few years or months, respectively. Such a pace is imposed primarily by user experience and fast-developing technologies, he added.

“What is very important for digital companies is to be competent and capable of managing their growth since it is precisely through growth that problems arise in managing processes, people, clients and technologies”, he said.

Commenting on the expertise the Company provided to the Serbian Chamber of Commerce in the process of shifting towards digital business models, Predrag Ćulibrk said Telekom Srbija owned digital infrastructure which was a precondition for and the driver of every digital transformation. In that context, he made special reference to the construction of the optical and 4G networks, data centre and cloud capacities, and the development of Managed Data services and the IoT network.

“The optical network and the 24 thousand kilometres of optical cables already laid are currently Telekom Srbija’s greatest advantages. However, the Company plans to ensure that the optical capillary network reach every company, large or small, and every home across the country, and this is the task which Telekom Srbija is prepared for. Also envisaged are several million euros worth of investments”, Ćulibrk said.

Telekom Srbija CEO said an estimated 29 billion devices were to be connected via the Internet until 2022 and added that the Company was prepared to face the challenge. He stressed he was confident that in the first quarter of the following year it would begin to develop the LoRa network which implied a new technology for connecting devices at reduced power consumption.

The three-day-long conference entitled Sinergija 2017 held under the motto “Engage Digitally” this year, was marked by lectures, panel discussions and sessions on such topics as digital transformation, the importance of the start-up community, entrepreneurship and open source software, Cloud technologies, IT security and implementation of state-of-the-art technologies in business.
