The finals of this year's mts app competition, at which five best teams and five best mobile applications were announced, was held at the Belgrade Startit Center. According to the assessment of the jury, the winning appications were: Solve&Share and Eduno created by teams from Bora Stanković High School in Niš, the ConTags application created by a team from Bolyai High School in Senta, the Stories application created by Luka Jovičić from the Mathematical High School in Belgrade and the Where's the Problem? application created by a team from Šabac High School. The students who created the applications were given valuable mobile phones, and made their way to the regional finals of the competition entitled “Regional App Challenge”, where they will be able to meet and compete with their peers from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.

The head of the Telekom Srbija PR Department, Marija Bošković said that she was satisfied with the success that the students achieved at the competition. “In accordance with the principles of socially responsible behavior, Telekom Srbija, in 2011, established the mts app competition with a wish to offer young talented people a chance for individual and professional development and learning and, which is very important, to convey a message that knowledge is always rewarded. We are very proud of all these young people who have shown an incredible team spirit, great creativity and innovativeness. The mission of Telekom Srbija is certainly to invest in new generations and offer young people support in the acquisition of knowledge so they can secure a better future for themselves, and this project has once again confirmed of our efforts“, said Marija Bošković.

As many as 14 high schools in Serbia took part in the seventh mts app competition. The high schools work according to the program for talents in the sphere of mathematics, information and computer science, and there were 22 applications in the competition for awards. The “Regional App Challenge” will be held at the end of February in Belgrade, when the winners of the mts app competition will compete against teams from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro and have the possibility to fight for the first prize – attendance at one of the leading IoT conferences in Berlin, or a special award for innovativeness.

Descriptions of the winning applications:

  • Solve&Share – the LeVeL team, Bora Stanković High School, Niš
    „Solve&Share is a social network which enables the participants to mutually share tasks from the sphere of mathematics, physics and chemistry and propose their own solutions. Solve&Share offers you the possibility to present a problem, i.e. solution, in an easy way, with a description, image or a drawing.
  • Eduno – the Prvaci team, Bora Stanković High School, Niš
    The Eduno application is designed with an aim to improve the students’ organization of time and help them plan their tasks more efficiently. Apart from reminding them of an important test or homework, it also offers students the possibility to create a class that can also be used by other students.
  • ConTags – tim „TagYa“, gimnazija „Bolayi“, Senta
    The ConTags application is intended for all those who have a lot of saved contacts in their mobile phone and who sometimes cannot find the desired number because of this. ConTags makes it possible to edit a phone book by memorizing additional information about a contact through which you can more easily search the phone book.
  • Stories – student Luka Jovičić, Mathematical High School, Belgrade
    The Stories application offers you the possibility of reading and creating your own interactive stories. With this application, the user can downloand any story, edit it according to his/her own wishes and then publish it, or write his/her own new story.
  • Where’s the problem? – Šabaton team, Šabac High School
    The idea behind the Where’s Problem? application is to allow the users to report problems in various spheres of life, primarily communal problems in the cities. The application allows centralized problem reporting for the entire country, and the authorities have a clear insight into all the information sent by the users.

Telekom Srbija is the winner of the highest order of the Serbian Orthodox Church, the Order of St. Sava of the first degree, which was granted to the company’s CEO Predrag Ćulibrk by Serbian Patriarch Irinej, on Feb. 7, as a sign of gratitude for the company’s continued participation in the activities of the Serbian Orthodox Church. The award-granting ceremony for special merits was held on the premises of Telekom Srbija in the presence of senior representatives of the company.

The Telekom Srbija company is the winner of the St. Sava Award for exceptional contribution to and continuous investment in the sphere of education made over the previous year. One of the leading projects of the company in this sphere is the We Create Knowledge campaign within which Telekom Srbija provided information equipment for 20 elementary schools in Serbia. The special importance of this project is reflected in the fact that it was implemented in the year when information science became a compulsory subject in all the elementary schools. The recognition is granted by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development to individuals, institutions, associations and companies for their contribution to the quality education and upbringing of children.

With the presentation of computers and accompanying equipment for the computer classroom of Karas Karolina primary school, Telekom Srbija has launched the implementation of the True Knowledge project in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development. The primary school in the town of Horgoš is one of the twenty schools to have been presented with Telekom Srbija’s donation to mark the twentieth anniversary of the company. The computer equipment was presented to Karas Karolina primary school by Telekom Srbija Director General Predrag Ćulibrk and Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Mladen Šarčević.
